I think they’re same though, however the broader crypto community have adopted the term ‘Token’ since it in a way depicts that an item has utility.

Hmmmm…great take.
Just that some authorities believe that coin points points more to a native asset which can exist independently in its own blockchain tokens are viewed to be utilities and assets built to leverage on already existing blockchains.
